I have one of these (only the amplifier and the equalizer) and it's still working very nice after all these years... it's a really die hard device running 2x custom 6ohm shelf speakers and 2x 12ohm mid-ranges which i further added...I know it's too much for it but it's not letting me down. fantastic device actually.

I have had that Sony but it wasn't satisfied with it then went out and bought a JVC RMC 70 and a JVC PC 55 I still have the PC 55 somebody did break into my apartment where I used to live installed my JVC RC mc70 I did like my JVC are some 70 and I do like my JVC pc55 even though it's old now it still works still plays cassettes blade in the front still works everything on it still works Scott quite the punch when you put batteries in is 30 Watts same as the RCM 70 + when I put that plug it into the wall then I get like 90 watt set of it quite the punch quite The Equalizer wipe the counter on it and it all comes apart like a mini system actually one of the first mini systems ever put out you sure can't beat the JVC line I did buy a lot of Sony stuff but still prefer JVC out of it all I also used to have a telephone caen one of the first 120 watt portable stereos but the problem was it was the battery melted inside the unit Family Foundation and it was a hell of a thing to clean up and they wouldn't actually take it back to fix it saw was stuck with that one did get it fixed after so many years after thank you very much friend something in this may be weird just the TV caught wind on the mic and took a few words don't worry about it but I'm talkin about my stereo

I remember this mini-system. It was good but the Aiwa systems were a little better. They cost more too. Technics and JVC made some good mini-systems too.

Still have my parents FH-7 with the analogue tuner. One advantage i can see the Analogue tuner FH-7 has is that it had 3 pairs RCA connectors at the back and individual CD/AUX source buttons.

I guess it's "portable" in the sense that you'd be able to take it to, for example, a party. I could see it being useful for that purpose if you went to the home of someone who didn't have a system of their own with the capability of playing certain formats, or who had a much lower quality system.

Went into my local James McOnemy (Dixons like electrical store) here in Edinburgh, I think, late'ish 80's looking for a cheap but good amp to power my self-built woofer for my surround-sound project. I noticed a Sony amp reduced from £450 to £85. I asked the guy in the shop why the massive price-drop, what was wrong with it? He told me it was a very powerful amp hence the original price. The reason for the price drop.....It only had two LED's on it, everyone had gone LED mad. No problem for me as it would be hidden along with the subwoofer it would be driving. I think I still have it in the garage somewhere...!

What a great video! I've watched a few of your videos but subscribed after watching this one since it pulled at my heart strings. I am the original owner of a Sony FH-215R. The LEDs for the spectrum analyzer and tuner no longer function and there are some crackling/connection issues with the Amp. I'd love to have it fully functioning again. Does anyone know of any experts in the US that could fix it for me?
